Journalists are not the enemy

(The following is in response to Eskil S. </URL>Jeanne Straus was right in expressing her shared concern regarding journalists being portrayed as the enemy of the people by the president of the United States. Journalists are what made America great. They have served as our watchdogs for over 240 years and are now being slandered by a president and undermined by entertainers posing as journalists.

I found it interesting that a Trumpophile recently objected to 200 newspapers nationwide decrying the president’s attacks on the Forth Estate and then went on to present his case against their collaboration with bewildering monotony and in excruciating length as he ‘cherry picked’ the news, real and fake, to create regressive hype about the president’s “milestones.”

Regarding those “milestones,” I would quote Macbeth, “It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.” To wit: The president's self lauded razzmatazz in North Korea and then boasting it’s “no longer a nuclear threat.” Well, how’s that going? Pretty well for one of the dictators, Kim Jong-il.

As for covering both sides I’m all for granting equal time for different points of view, except for those claiming the earth is flat, the sun revolves around the earth, there’s clean burning coal, Fox Noise is fair and balanced and Breitbart’s assignment editor doesn’t ‘cherry-pick’ news stories.
