For journalism, not partisan punditry

(The following is in response to a letter from J.P. Curtis:
I agree with J. P. Curtis that true journalists are not the enemy of the people and that is exactly what my thorough, factually accurate letter was about.

It appears that Curtis’s letter on journalism was written while scanning between CNN, NBC, ABC and CBS while glancing at the NY Times: in toto, President Trump’s Fake News Media.

My references to Jeanne Straus were likely missed while flipping channels or scanning: “Jeanne Straus could have been my journalism professor. She hit the nail on the head when she discussed the need for a free press.”

Renowned publisher Joseph Pulitzer, before his ‘yellow journalism’ stage, had the words “Accuracy! Terseness! Accuracy!” displayed in the newsroom of The New York World, one of his newspapers. It is time to adopt this mantra in all media. Journalism not partisan punditry.

J. P. Curtis’s total disregard of and mocking facts merely shows deaf and blind partisan perspective. Disregarding the threat of anarchy represented by Antifa is but one gross failure of non-journalistic media. The Charlottesville investigative report (Heaphy) should be required reading for anyone reporting on First Amendment assemblies, especially those participated in by masked thugs.

Thank you to the many people who have reached out to encourage my research. Thank you too, J.P. for giving me incentive. It is too bad that you just can’t make a legitimate point without always stooping to labeling as an easy, yet disgusting out.

I proudly stand with Tiger Woods, NFL’s Jim Brown, Kanye West, Tom Brady, Herschel Walker, Candace Owens, and millions of others who support President Donald J. Trump. Good company.
