The theme of this year’s event was Healthy U, Healthy Me, Healthy Us. Children at all the Sussex County YMCA’s after-school care sites made fruit pizzas and played CATCH games, including a hula hoop competition, musical bouncing balls, and hospital tag. Children also recommitted to the Healthy U pledge, promising to take care of themselves and be their best by eating healthy, staying active and limiting their screen time. Created in 2008 by the Horizon Foundation for New Jersey and the New Jersey YMCA State Alliance, Healthy U promotes nutrition education, physical activity and family involvement statewide. Healthy U uses the evidence-based CATCH (coordinated approach to child health) curriculum that promotes the enjoyment of eating healthy and being physically active every day.
