Sparta Historical Society welcomes Tony and Kim Dougherty of retrostockphotos for an evening discussion with the collectors who hold the foremost inventory of Curt E Engelbrecht’s photographic work. Learn more about Engelbrecht’s innovative legacy, past and present dark room technology and an overview of current day restoration techniques used for the preservation of photographic works for future generations.

This presentation will be held at 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 9 at Sparta Presbyterian Church, which is located at 32 Main St. Following the presentation, refreshments will be served. Those attending will have a chance to ask questions about the topic or other issues relating to photo restoration. Members are free, non-members $5.

The Sparta Historical Society is located at The Van Kirk Homestead Museum (www.vankirkmuseum.org) at 336 Main St. (Rte. 517, use Middle School Driveway) in Sparta. It will be open Sunday, May 12, with the Spring Exhibition called “Curt E. Englebrecht: Views through his Lens” , sponsored by Perona Farms, and will be open every second and fourth Sunday through June 23rd from 1-4 p.m., with 2 p.m. talk.
